Ain't that a kick in the head...

A new craze appears to have taken over footballers across the globe. Kicking other players in the head...

It doesn't matter if they're on the opposing side or your own, there is nothing more satisfying than booting a fellow professional in the face it turns out.

There have been several incidences of players receiving some sweet chin music in the last month from across the globe.

One incident took place on British soil, with a Notts County defender booting his own goalkeeper in the face in a pre-season friendly against Galatasaray. Following a goal for the Turkish giants from Yilmaz, Alan Sheehan attempted to boot the ball away in frustration, but ended up kicking Bartosz Białkowski in the face. The goalkeeper ended up being stretchered off, not exactly what you want to happen in a pre-season friendly...

The second indecent is a little more vicious and comes from the Brazilian second division. Icasa were playing Oeste, who were on the attack when Icasa defender Bruno Perone went to clear a high ball, resulting in a studs-to-face collision with Oeste forward Jheymy. The coming together resulted in a red card for Perone and four facial fractures for Jheymy. Ouch

Last but not least has to be one of the worst follow through's ever seen. Again coming from South America, this time the Peruvian 2nd division in a game between Alianza Universidad and Deportivo Municipal. Alianza Universidad's Wellington 'Adao' Smith managed to go in for a 50/50 ball ON THE FLOOR and ended up booting Omar Cuya in the face like a martial arts specialist. Smith received a straight red and has since been banned for 14 matches. Which I think you'll agree is justified.

With the new season incoming, make sure you keep your eyes peeled to see if this face mashing, skull crushing craze can make its way into the Premier League!
