When I read that Michael Owen had been surprised about his recent match ratings in the press, I just thought to myself that surely he should know better.
For a footballer who has been playing professionally for 12 years, I was shocked that he still looked at his match ratings, and how much he seems to read into them.
It may be that he is under a lot of pressure playing for Manchester United, with people saying he isn't good enough and that he shouldn't go to the World Cup next summer. But Owen has played for some of the world biggest clubs where he is under pressure to perform in every single game.
The only opinions on his performances that Owen should care about are those of his manager, his teammates, Fabio Capello's and his own.
