Argentina Set To Join Tri-Nations

Argentina have been given a conditional invitation to join the Tri-Nations, making it a Four Nation series.

The Puma's will play against Australia, South Africa and New Zealand in the Southern Hemispheres major International Rugby Union tournament. Argentina could start playing in the Four-Nations in 2012, if SANZAR, the Tri-Nations governing body broadcasters, approve of the invitation.

It will be Argentina's first inclusion in a regular international competition. Which should benefit Argentinian Rugby greatly, as they will be competing against the current top three teams in the world every year.

The fans, players and board of Argentinian rugby will be hoping that their inclusion can help the Puma's improve on their third place finish in the 2007 World Cup and their 6th place world ranking.

I hope that their inclusion is approved and happens without any problems. It may take some time for Argentina to settle into the competition as they are still fairly inexperienced at competitive international Rugby, but in the long term it will benefit Argentina massively and make them a stronger and more competitive team. Which could well be worrying news for the home nations.
